# Feature Map > Feature Map is a CLI and agent skill that keeps one YAML file per product feature in `.features/` (purpose, entry_points, apps, user_flow, related_features). Coding agents run `feature-map list`, `search` and `show --section` to find where a feature lives before they plan or change code, and `validate` / `check` confirm the maps are still accurate. `feature-map idea` saves product ideas as markdown in `docs/ideas/`, a repo-based backlog that agents can pick up and implement. Install with `pip install feature-map-cli`, `npm install -g feature-map-cli` or `brew install markschellhas/tap/feature-map`, then run `feature-map init` in the repository root. Current version: 1.2.7. ## Docs - [Guide (markdown)](https://featuremaps.org/guide.md): install, bootstrap, agent instructions, adopting in existing repos, CI, upgrade, command reference - [Guide (HTML)](https://featuremaps.org/guide) - [README](https://github.com/markschellhas/feature-map/blob/master/README.md) - [Agent skill](https://github.com/markschellhas/feature-map/blob/master/share/feature_map/skill/SKILL.md) - [Example map, annotated](https://github.com/markschellhas/feature-map/blob/master/share/feature_map/skill/references/example-map.md) ## Optional - [Changelog](https://github.com/markschellhas/feature-map/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md) - [Source code](https://github.com/markschellhas/feature-map)
